Conflict and disaster population movement (flows) data for Brazil. The data is the most recent available and covers a 180 day time period. Internally displaced persons are defined according to the 1998 Guiding Principles as people or groups of people who have been forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of armed conflict, or to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights, or natural or human-made disasters and who have not crossed an international border. The IDMC's Event data, sourced from the Internal Displacement Updates (IDU), offers initial assessments of internal displacements reported within the last 180 days. This dataset provides provisional information that is continually updated on a daily basis, reflecting the availability of data on new displacements arising from conflicts and disasters. The finalized, carefully curated, and validated estimates are then made accessible through the Global Internal Displacement Database (GIDD). The IDU dataset comprises preliminary estimates aggregated from various publishers or sources.

This includes layers for detectable thermal activity from VIIRS satellites for the last 7 days and MODIS satellites for the last 48 hours. VIIRS Thermal Hotspots and Fire Activity is a product of NASA’s Land, Atmosphere Near real-time Capability for EOS (LANCE) Earth Observation Data, while MODIS Global Fires is a product of NASA’s Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS), both a part of NASA's Earth Science Data. EOSDIS integrates remote sensing and GIS technologies to deliver global MODIS hotspot/fire locations to natural resource managers and other stakeholders around the World. The application includes live feed sources for US wildfire reports (I-209), perimeters, MODIS hot spots, wildfire conditions / red flag warnings, wildfire potential and weather radar. Each of these layers provides insight into where a fire is located, its intensity and the surrounding areas susceptibility to wildfire.

The Project Climate Change, Health, and Artificial Intelligence (Project CCHAIN) dataset is a validated, open-sourced linked dataset containing 20 years (2003-2022) of climate, environmental, socioeconomic, and health dimensions at the barangay (village) level across twelve Philippine cities (Dagupan, Palayan, Navotas, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Legazpi, Iloilo, Mandaue, Tacloban, Zamboanga, Cagayan de Oro, Davao). The full documentation can be accessed here. The tables are designed in a way that users can choose variables that are most relevant to their focus city and use case, and link these variables to form a single dataset by merging using standard geography codes and calendar dates. This can be done using the provided linking notebook, or offline using the user's own code. Here are some tips on how make most use of this dataset: Focus on one location. Starting with a detailed analysis of one location allows for a better understanding of the local dynamics, which may differ across locations. Choose one health data source. Pick one of either a central or local data source. Using two different data health sources is not advised because it will lead to double/overcounting of disease cases. Do not use all variables at once- do a literature review first to identify possible key variables. to identify possible key variables. More often than not, using all variables is not necessary and may even yield subpar results. Check data availability on your focus location and make sure they fit the requirements of your study. This dataset also includes household surveys tables (see schema here and here) done on partner informal settlement communities in the cities of Muntinlupa, Davao, Iloilo, and Mandaue and administered on various dates up to 2024. Due to the sensitive nature of surveys and the vulnerability of the subjects involved, requests for access must be submitted for review and approval by the Philippine Action for Community-Led Shelter Initiatives, Inc. (PACSII). To submit a request, please use this form.

Database containing information related to precipitation indices useful for analysing and comparing variations in precipitation over time and in different geographical regions and indices used in the analysis of vegetation and crops to monitor their activity and detect their presence in the territory. Key variables: Atmospherically Resistant Vegetation Index (ARVI), Normalized Difference Vegetation (NDVI), Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) and Structure Insensitive Pigment Index (SIPI) for rainfall information and Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI1, SPI3, SPI6, SPI9 and SPI12) for vegetation information. The indicators between SPI1 - SPI3 refer to short time periods (indicator for immediate impacts) while SPI3 - SPI12 is for more medium-term impact measurements. Each vegetation index is based on a set of data that can be collected through remote sensing, such as satellite imagery, and is designed to measure different vegetation and crop characteristics. The data are categorised by country, department and municipality and by year and month. The indices refer to the monthly average. Vegetation and precipitation data have been produced and transformed by GIS4Tech. For more information contact GIS4Tech: info@gis4tech.com. A summary table is established at the municipal level with the list of agroclimatic hazards calculated from the agroclimatic indicators shown in the Vulnerability panel. For each column, the threat category in which the municipality would be found is defined (No risk, Mild threat, Moderate threat, Severe threat), and the final column represents the general summary of global threats, obtained using the 20% rule. The calculation made within each category is established through a matrix of crossed conditions. For more information contact GIS4Tech: info@gis4tech.com. The WorldRiskIndex is a statistical model that provides an assessment of the latent risk of 193 countries falling victim to a humanitarian disaster caused by extreme natural events and the negative impacts of climate change. Based on peer-reviewed concepts of risk, hazard and vulnerability, it is assumed that disaster risks are not solely shaped by the occurrence, intensity, and duration of extreme natural events, but that social factors, political conditions, and economic structures are equally responsible for whether disasters occur in the context of extreme natural events. Accordingly, both main spheres of disaster risk, exposure and vulnerability, are treated as equals. The WorldRiskIndex was initially developed in 2011 by the United Nations University Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) for Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft as a model with 27 indicators to analytically link and relate the two spheres of disaster risks – exposure to natural hazards such as earthquakes, storms or droughts, and societal capacities to respond to these kinds of events. The methodology of the WorldRiskIndex has been continuously revised and developed by the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) since 2018. In 2022, a new, fully revised model of the WorldRiskIndex was published, enabling more accurate analyses by incorporating more than 100 high-quality indicators, new data sources, and more robust statistical methods, thus finally replacing the previously used model.

On the 23rd of November 2021, the Federal Government of Somalia declared a state of emergency due to drought. Early 2023, after five consecutive failed rainy seasons, most of the country is experiencing severe drought conditions. Based on previous and current drought induced displacement patterns, people will continue to move from rural to urban areas in search of humanitarian services. In order to monitor drought related displacement, DTM has deployed its Emergency Trend Tracking tool since February 2022.
