• As of November 10, 2024, the Ministry of Health reported 443 Mpox cases across 37 districts. Males accounted for 56% of cases, with females making up the remaining 44%. Additionally, September and October saw widespread extreme weather events, including floods, landslides, heavy storms, and fires.
• The hazards in there reporting period affected over 50,262 individuals (9,348 households), with 21,498 people from 3,965 households internally displaced.
• The most affected age group were adults between 18 and 64 years (64%) followed by children below the age of 18 (26%) and elderly above 64 (10%). Notably, more than half of affected people were female (58%).
• Urgent needs have emerged, with health, food assistance and NFI as critical priorities in the aftermath of the reported hazards.
• Infrastructure damage was significant, with 4,990 houses partially destroyed, 926 houses completely damaged, and 902 water facilities, 29 schools and 6 health facilities affected.

Scattered rains experienced during the months of June and July triggered flash floods and heavy storms. Lightning was reported in the Karamoja region in Amudat district, land conflicts in Wakiso and Amuru while public riots in Kamwenge. The hazards affected 12,446 individuals (2,777 households), with 1,989 people from 540 households internally displaced. Adults between 18 and 64 years were the most affected age group (48%), followed by children below the age of 18 (39%) and elderly above 64 (13%). Notably, more than half of affected people were female (55%). Urgent needs have emerged, with health, food assistance and NFI as critical priorities in the aftermath of the hazards. Infrastructure damage was significant, with 231 houses completely destroyed, 150 houses partially damaged, and 69 water facilities, 9 schools and 8 health facilities affected.

The May rains triggered floods and landslides/mudslides in the most affected districts in Uganda. Most floods in districts bordering the big water bodies are because of the rising water levels. The hazards affected 46,457 individuals (10,191 households), with 12,681 people from 2,697 households internally displaced due to the adverse weather conditions.

In April 2024, the hazards affected 37,866 individuals (11,015 households), with 12,731 people from 3,717 households internally displaced due to the adverse weather conditions.

In March, the impacts of the hazards affected 10,390 individuals (2,387 households), with 426 people from 91 households were internally displaced. Children below the age of 18 were the most affected age group (67%), followed by adults (18-64) at 30% and elderly above 64 (3%). Notably, more than half of affected people were female (62%).

In February 2024, the impacts of the hazards affected 3,935 individuals (993 households), with 1,525 people from 271 households were internally displaced.

In January, the impacts of the hazards affected 1,654 individuals (288 households), with 685 people from 125 households were internally displaced.

As the September to December (SOND) rainfall season winds down, extreme weather events, specifically floods, landslides, hailstorms, and heavy winds have led to significant devastation in the affected districts. The disasters have adversely impacted 7,052 individuals, comprising 1,618 households, with 1,859 individuals from 412 households being internally displaced.

Demographically, adults (19-64 years) constitute the majority of the affected population at 61%, followed by children under 19 years at 30%, and the elderly above 64 years at 9%. The primary needs identified in the aftermath of these disasters include shelter, child protection and general protection.

The damage assessment revealed that 233 houses have been partially damaged, while 46 houses have been completely destroyed. Additionally, 71 water facilities and 9 schools have suffered adverse effects.

The ongoing heavy rains in the nation triggered extreme weather events which include floods and heavy storms in the month of November.

1. The disasters affected a total of 38,547 individuals, representing 7,854 households while 15,962 individuals from 2,839 households were internally displaced.
2. Adults (19-64 years) were the most affected population group (50%), followed by children under 18 years (42%) and the elderly who were above 64 years (8%).
3. The most pressing needs are food assistance, NFI, Hygiene promotion among others.
4. Houses partially damaged totaled 4,019 while 1,594 houses were completely destroyed. 208 water facilities, 42 health facilities and 32 schools were also affected.
5. Disasters have so far affected 215,299 individuals and displaced over 47,467 people as reported from January to November 2023.

In September 2023, the Prime Minister Office’s, in conjunction with Ministry of Water & Environment and Uganda National Meteorological Authority published an alert on the potential impacts of floods related to el niño during the September – December rainy season. To monitor those, DTM Uganda, in collaboration with District Disaster Management Committees and Ministries Departs & Agencie activated its Emergency Event Tracking. In fact, between 1 October and 14 November 2023, over 79,000 individuals have been affected by el niño-related floods and other associated events related to heavy rains, such as landslides, mudslides, and traffic road accidents. Widespread heavy rains have caused significant damage to roads, bridges and properties across various regions, disrupting socio-economic activities and access to education, markets and health facilities; while above 2,600 acres of cultivable land have been destroyed exposing affected communities to food insecurity, especially to the almost 23,600 IDPs.

In September, 2557 individuals and 662 households were affected. 246 individuals and 57 households were internally displaced.

In August 2023, 2904 individuals and 864 households were affected. 1041 individuals and 24 households were internally displaced.

In the month of July 2023, floods were reported in Kapelebyong & Gulu, human epidemics outbreaks (Cholera) in Kayunga, Namayingo & Nakaseke (rift valley fever) and road accidents in Kagadi and Kampala. The disasters affected a total of 2,040 individuals, representing 300 households and displaced internally 156 individuals from 30 households. The hazards affected mostly Adults (19-64 years) population group (63%), followed by children under 18 years (33%) and the elderly who are above 64 years (4%). The most pressing needs are in the affected sub-counties are Health, water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion among others.

From January to July 2023, 90,226 people were affected, and 2,401 people were displaced by multi-hazards in Uganda.

This dataset shows the number of individuals and households affected and the impacts of disasters on a monthly basis at a district (Admin 2) level in Uganda. A total of 171,148 individuals were affected in 2022.
