Afghanistan: Integrated Context Analysis (ICA), 2016

This layer contains information about the landslide risk estimated during the Integrated Context Analysis (ICA) run in Afghanistan in 2016. Data source: UNEP/UNISDR Global Assessment of Risk (GAR), 2013. The key indicators used for the analysis were the percentage of surface area affected by landslide risk and the maximum expected frequency of landslide events.

This report provides the technical analysis and the programmatic recommendations resulting from the Integrated Context Analysis (ICA) performed in Afghanistan in 2016. Trend analyses of food security and natural shock provide an understanding of what has happened in the past and what may (or may not) be changing to act as a proxy for what may occur in the future, and where short, medium, and longer term programming efforts may be required. The Integrated Context Analysis (ICA) is an analytical process that contributes to the identification of broad national programmatic strategies, including resilience building, disaster risk reduction, and social protection for the most vulnerable and food insecure populations.

This Excel file contains the food security analysis performed for the purposes of the Integrated Context Analysis (ICA) run in Afghanistan in 2016. The analysis, using the National Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (NRVA) and the Afghanistan Living Condition Survey (ALCS) from 2007/08 to 2014, determines the recurrence of food insecurity conditions - by second-level administrative area - applying a threshold equal to 30%: given the high values of food insecurity across the country, the threshold of 30% will allow a better separation of worse areas from better-off geographical areas.
