Methodology

The process of constructing the SAN and Socioeconomic profiles was carried out by applying Kohonen's Self-Organized Maps. The analysis process of the profiles is carried out by using Cohen's d (effect size) where the variables that have the largest effect size and that are significant from the point of view of the number of responses that support it are evaluated. Given that each profile responds to different variables, it is possible to structure a description in terms of the SAN and socioeconomic variables of each municipality. Francisco Abarca, founding member of GIS4Tech, developed the methodology to obtain the profiles for Central America based on these techniques.
