The INFORM Severity Index is a regularly updated, and easily interpreted model for measuring the severity of humanitarian crisis globally. It is a composite index, which brings together 31 core indicators, organised in three dimensions: impact, conditions of affected people, and complexity. All the indicators are scored on a scale of 1 to 5. These scores are then aggregated into components, the three dimensions (Impact, Conditions, Complexity), and the overall severity category based on the analytical framework. The three dimensions have been weighted according to their contribution to severity: impact of the crisis (20%); conditions of affected people (50%); complexity (30%). The weightings are currently a best estimate and will be refined using expert analysis and statistical methods. Each crisis will fall into 1 of 5 categories based on their score ranging from very low to high. ACAPS – an INFORM technical partner – is responsible for collection, cleaning, analysis and input of data into the model and the production of the final results. Read more about the INFORM Severity Index: https://www.acaps.org/en/thematics/all-topics/inform-severity-index Users can specify time period and download from: https://www.acaps.org/en/data#dataset-3

A high-resolution asset exposure dataset produced using 'lit population' (LitPop), a globally consistent methodology to disaggregate asset value data proportional to a combination of nightlight intensity and geographical population data. Exposure data for population, asset values and productive capital at 4km spatial resolution globally, consistent across country borders. The dataset offers value for manifold use cases, including globally consistent economic disaster risk assessments and climate change adaptation studies, especially for larger regions, yet at considerably high resolution. The Climada Data API can be used to explore the full, original datasets.

Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS) is a 35+ year quasi-global rainfall data set. It is a gridded rainfall time series for trend analysis and seasonal drought monitoring, spans 50°S-50°N (and all longitudes) and ranges from 1981 to near-present. The anomaly refers to the difference between current rainfall and the average rainfall that occurred between 1981 and 2010 in millimeters. For more information visit the CHIRPS site. This dataset contains the latest available CHIRPS anomaly data. The full list of data available is available from USGS for Mar-May data, Oct-Dec data, and others. Additionally, subnational statistics (mean, min, max) have been calculated for Ethiopia, Kenya, and Somalia and are available in the csv resource.

European winter storm [gust in meters per second] footprints for Ukraine. Data presented here is historical, observed data based on the Copernicus WISC project event footprints 1940-2014. Further modelled data are available from the CLIMADA Data API these include 50 probabilistic events per original event, at 4 kilometers resolution. Data available for European countries, and corresponds to the storm hazard today. See key reference Röösli et al. 2021. 2. Winter storm hazards generated from ERA5 (1980-2010) and CMIP6 models (1980-2010 and 2070-2100). In that second case, only Europe wide datasets are available, with lower resolution (depending on the GCM or ERA5 model). See Severino et al. 2023.

The ICA is a process of consultations supported by mapped-out data that produces a strategic plan describing where different combinations of programme themes are appropriate to achieve goals of reducing food insecurity and climate related shock risk. The ICA combines multi-year food security trends with natural shock risk data to highlight sub-national areas where different programme strategies make sense. Food security trend maps shows areas where safety nets can address regular food insecurity, and others where shocks make recovery more important. Climate-related natural shock risk maps show where DRR, preparedness and early warning efforts can complement food-security objectives. Atop this core foundation, mapped data on subjects including nutrition, gender, livelihoods and resilience can enrich theme-level strategic planning in which all pieces work together. The full group of ICA partners discuss these analytical results to arrive at strategic programmatic directions.
