This dataset is part of the data series [?]: World Bank - Energy and Mining
Contains data from the World Bank's data portal. There is also a consolidated country dataset on HDX. The world economy needs ever-increasing amounts of energy to sustain economic growth, raise living standards, and reduce poverty. But today's trends in energy use are not sustainable. As the world's population grows and economies become more industrialized, nonrenewable energy sources will become scarcer and more costly. Data here on energy production, use, dependency, and efficiency are compiled by the World Bank from the International Energy Agency and the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center.

The attacks in the Red Sea are disrupting commercial and humanitarian supplies. International partners have raised alarm over the economic and humanitarian impact of the escalating attacks on ships in the Red Sea which are adding strain to shipping routes already hit by conflicts and climate change. The crisis in the Red Sea, marked by Houthi-led attacks disrupting shipping routes, has added another layer of complexity. In response to the Red Sea crisis, major players in the shipping industry have temporarily suspended Suez transits. The diversion of cargo flow has a major impact on the access to commodities, especially for countries relying heavily on imports. That will also lead to higher costs and delays for humanitarian operations in the Horn of Africa. Continued tensions in the area may result in diverting international attention from the ongoing conflict in Sudan and the climate-related impacts on countries within Southern and Eastern Africa. The situation is fluid and volatile, with the worst plummets in the last 7 years seen in early 2024. This has a potential for significant consequences depending on future developments

The dataset contains the full data collected in the field related to energy access. The assessment used the "Beyond Connection" methodology, developed by ESMAP (World Bank). The full sample is based on 210 interviews at the household level in 68 different communities within the Hebron Governorate. All the households are in Area C. As soon the data are fully analyzed, an open version will be released.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - Energy Monitoring Framework Survey
The UNHCR Energy Monitoring Framework takes a program-based approach to monitoring, with the aim of tracking both outputs and the impact of UNHCR dollars spent on programming (either via partners or through direct implementation). The process for developing the indicators began in 2015 with a review of existing tools and approaches and consultations with Government, Private Sector, field-based staff and NGO partners to devise a set of common, standardized measures rooted in global good practices.
