The study conducted in partnership with IMMAP and funded by the Australian Government includes a literature review, quantitative data collection as well as qualitative data collection. Quantitative data was collected from 8,876 persons from 1,665 households from 5 locations in Jordan and Lebanon. In the light of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the study defined disability as interactions between personal and environmental factors. Disability was measured the level of difficulties a person faces when performing basic activities (referred as “domains”) regardless of impairments, using the modified Washington Group’s Extended Set (WG-ES) (more precisely, Short Set Enhanced plus fatigue) and Child Functioning Module (CFM).

The ACU’s Information Management Unit conducted the 4th version of its annual research “Schools in Syria”, to highlight the impact of the Syrian conflict on education and the needs of students and school supplies. This is the most representative, nuanced iteration of this study to date, covering 4,079 schools within 99 sub-districts across 10 governorates, building upon 35,925 data e-forms with 31,846 forms on perception surveys. It has significant increase in the number of the functional schools addressed over its first version to the current one by 2,572 schools. Please note to be more specific as possible on the following when you request the data: Why are you requesting the data? What is the intent to use the data? What is your role? Who is the organization that you represent for?

Making Education Information Available to All in Kibera Many people collect information about education - and they sometimes make it open and free to use. So, why isn't it easy to find information about a particular school - for a parent, or for an education researcher? Much of the information that's out there isn't connected to the other data - and especially when it comes to informal schools, which provide a great deal of the education services in places like informal settlements.

Since the end of January 2019, southern Idleb and northern Hama governorates have seen a significant escalation of conflict. Shelling and airstrikes intensified in the area, leading to a deterioration of the humanitarian situation. In response, REACH conducted a rapid needs assessment to provide actors with an update on the humanitarian situation. The latest conflict escalation affects an area that is home to an estimated 700,000 residents and internally displaced persons (IDPs), increasing vulnerability, and in some cases, leading to secondary and tertiary displacements. From late 2017, the region has witnessed a large-scale influx of IDPs, following escalations of conflict and displacements from formerly opposition-held areas in south-east Idleb, south-west Aleppo, Rural Damascus, Homs, Hama, Dar’a and Quneitra governorates. The increase in IDP population in Idleb governorate and surrounding areas has led to a growing strain on resources and an increase in inter-communal tensions in the region. Further complicating the situation, there has been increasing concern regarding a potential military offensive in the region since September 2018, with shelling and airstrikes occurring with increased frequency. While the mid-September 2018 announcement of a demilitarised zone put a pause on concerns over an imminent military offensive in the region, clashes have continued unabated. Data for this assessment was collected from 25-26 February 2019 in 85 opposition-controlled communities in 12 sub-districts via community-level key informant (KI) interviews. KIs were asked to report on the previous week (18 to 25 February). This dataset provides the findings for indicators on demographics, shelter, food, livelihoods, electricity & NFIs, WASH, health, education, protection, reported priority needs, and reported movement intentions.

The Teacher Development Programme (TDP) is a six-year (2013-2019) programme funded by the UK Department for International Development. It seeks to improve the quality of teaching in primary schools, junior secondary schools, and colleges of education at the state level in northern Nigeria. It works through in-service training for primary teachers, reform of pre-service teacher education, and strengthening evidence-based research on teaching. Oxford Policy Management has conducted an independent impact evaluation of TDP. This evaluation focuses on the first of these three outputs: in-service training and support for primary teachers in the three core curriculum subjects of English, mathematics, and science. The programme initially operated in three states, Jigawa, Katsina, and Zamfara, and was later extended to Kaduna and Kano. This survey covers a group of schools that were randomly assigned to receive the TDP intervention in Jigawa, Katsina, and Zamfara, and a control group of schools in the same states that did not receive the TDP intervention. The impact evaluation is a theory-based, mixed-methods design. At the core is a constrained randomised design, with half of the sample schools assigned to receive the TDP intervention, while the other half was assigned to the control group. The main source of quantitative data is the sample panel survey of 330 schools in Jigawa, Katsina, and Zamfara conducted in 2014 and 2017. At each sample school, the head teacher and a sample of teachers and pupils were interviewed and tested on their subject knowledge in English, mathematics, and science; lesson observations were conducted; a teacher roster was compiled; and classroom attendance by teachers and pupils was measured. The data from the endline survey are from the TDP IE quantitative endline survey conducted in 2017. For the qualitative research findings and methods see the final endline report provided below.
