The High Resolution Settlement Layer (HRSL) provides estimates of human population distribution at a resolution of 1 arc-second (approximately 30m) for the year 2015. The population estimates are based on recent census data and high-resolution (0.5m) satellite imagery from DigitalGlobe. The population grids provide detailed delineation of settlements in both urban and rural areas. The data were developed using computer vision techniques to classify blocks of optical satellite data as settled (containing buildings) or not. Proportional allocation was used to distribute population data from subnational census data to the settlement extents. The data are distributed as GeoTIFF files. The Population GeoTIFF represents population estimates (in persons)

We have provided the 3 word addresses of each health centre within the West African Region. what3words is a simple, real-time, location referencing system which solves many of the key logistical issues facing aid and humanitarian organisations, for whom street addresses, GPS co-ordinates, and other systems don't exist or are problematic. Using words means non-technical people can find any location more accurately and most importantly, communicate it more quickly, more easily and with less ambiguity than any other system. For more information, to get our API or batch encode your coordinates visit http://www.developer.what3words.com

The dataset is based on the assessments and Health Resources Availability and Mapping (HeRAM) carried out by World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with health cluster partners during different emergencies in Pakistan. Please note that it is not necessary that the assessment covered all the health facilities in a particular district. These have now been provided with a 3 word address so those on the ground can communicate the location of each facility.

Gross County Product (GCP) is a geographic breakdown of Kenya’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) that gives an estimate of the size and structure of county economies. It also provides a benchmark for evaluating the growth of county economies over time. The GCP estimates are consistent with the published national GDP in the sense that the sum of the GCP is equal to national-level GDP. However, it has not been possible to distribute taxes (less subsidies) on products due to lack of sufficient details.

The study conducted in partnership with IMMAP and funded by DFAT includes a literature review, quantitative data collection as well as qualitative data collection. Quantitative data was collected from 6,381 persons of randomly sampled 1,159 households in Azraq and Zaatari camps and Irbid between October 2017 and January 2018. In the light of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), the study defined disability as interactions between personal and environmental factors. Disability was measured the level of difficulties a person faces when performing basic activities (referred as “domains”) regardless of impairments, using the modified Washington Group’s Extended Set (WG-ES) (more precisely, Short Set Enhanced plus fatigue) and Child Functioning Module (CFM). Twenty-five Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and 3 Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were also conducted between November 2017 and January 2018 to elicit deeper insights on the educational situation of children with and without disabilities.

Data is collected in 1,664 communities across 105 sub-districts and 7 Governorates throughout Syria. Data collection and analysis take place on a monthly basis, with questionnaires distributed to all participants or enumerators at the beginning of each month. Questionnaires are completed over the course of two to three weeks by contacting Key Informants (KIs) to gather information about their area of knowledge. Once data collection is completed, data is translated, cleaned, and prepared for analysis. Averages for continuous variables are identified, while confidence levels are used for instances where multiple records have been submitted for the same village or neighbourhood. Data collected is triangulated with secondary data from multiple sources. As data collected via KIs, it should be considered only as indicative of the humanitarian situation in the time period assessed.

Facebook has produced a model to help map global medium voltage (MV) grid infrastructure, i.e. the distribution lines which connect high-voltage transmission infrastructure to consumer-serving low-voltage distribution. The data found here are model outputs for six select African countries: Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, DRC, Cote D’Ivoire, and Zambia. The grid maps are produced using a new methodology that employs various publicly-available datasets (night time satellite imagery, roads, political boundaries, etc) to predict the location of existing MV grid infrastructure. The model documentation and code are also available , so data scientists and planners globally can replicate the model to expand model coverage to other countries where this data is not already available. You can find the model code and documentation here: https://github.com/facebookresearch/many-to-many-dijkstra Note: current model accuracy is approximately 70% when compared to existing ground-truthed data. Accuracy can be further improved by integrating other locally-relevant information into the model and running it again. Resolution: geotiff is provided at Bing Tile Level 20
