The HoA Refugee Database, produced by the Humanitarian Information Unit of the U.S. Department of State, is a compilation of the UN High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR) population and demographic data reports for refugee camp populations in the Horn of Africa Region. Dadaab Camp in Kenya and Dollo Ado camp of Ethiopia are the focus; there are seven sites within Dadaab: Dagahaley Camp, Hagadera Camp, Ifo Camp, Ifo 2 East Camp, Ifo 2 West Camp, and Camp Kambioos, and five sites within Dollo Ado: Bokolmanyo Camp, Melkadida Camp, Kobe Camp, Hilaweyn Camp, and Buramino Camp. The HoA Refugee Database originated in July of 2011 and the current release is through December 2011. The HoA Refugee Database includes several demographic variables of populations within the refugee camps, including: individual population, household counts, gender, age and nationality. Data as of June 11, 2015. The "Syria Refugee Sites" dataset contains verified data about the geographic location (point geometry), name, and operational status of refugee sites hosting Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan, and Iraq. Only refugee sites operated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) or the Government of Turkey are included. Compiled by the U.S Department of State, Humanitarian Information Unit (INR/GGI/HIU), each attribute in the dataset (including name, location, and status) is verified against multiple sources. The name and status are obtained from the UNHCR data portal (accessible at http://data.unhcr.org/syrianrefugees/regional.php). The locations are obtained from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) and the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's GEOnet Names Server (GNS) (accessible at http://geonames.nga.mil/ggmagaz/). The name and status for each refugee site is verified with PRM. Locations are verified using high-resolution commercial satellite imagery and/or known areas of population. Additionally, all data is checked against various news sources. Locations are only accurate down to the city level. The designation field gives the type of site and the status of the site. Sites can be "Official Camps", camp settlements that are officially established and maintained by the United Nations or host country. Sites can also be "Transitional Camps", which is a typical camp structure but designed to be temporary or used on as needed basis. There can also be "Transitional Facilities"; these are facilities that are being used to temporarily house refugees. Status of these sites can be Planned, Under Construction, Staged, Open, or Closed. The data contained herein is entirely unclassified and is current as of 11 June 2015. The data is updated as needed.

Kakuma Refugee Camp is one of the longest-standing humanitarian settlements in sub-Saharan Africa and one of the largest refugee camps in the world. In response to recent reductions in funding for the Kenyan refugee operation, increased global competition for funds, and a common belief that not all refugees in such protracted situations have the same humanitarian assistance needs, UNHCR and WFP decided to undertake a study among refugees in Kakuma Camp. The main aims were to fill knowledge gaps regarding refugee livelihoods and the level and differences of vulnerability in refugee households, as well as to explore the feasibility of delivering more differentiated assistance and to identify the mechanisms that would need to be put in place to do so. Specifically, the study was meant to determine whether a permanent targeting mechanism could be put in place or whether other ways of prioritising assistance exist when resources are tight. The survey covered 2,000 households and was implemented in November/December 2015.

This dataset contains data on the amounts paid by refugees and migrants to facilitate their movement to Europe. The dataset has over 2400 records from 2000 to present, for refugees and migrants from locations mainly in African, the Middle East and Europe. The estimates on the amount paid by refugees and migrants is based on the number of "detections" reported by European Member States to FRONTEX (before 2008: data from Clandestino which is compatible with said routes) and the median of various sources mentioning the prices of a crossing on a FRONTEX-defined route. A 2011 report on Turkish refugees points out that one in 7 refugee or migrant do not pay for the journey (other accounts, like the Red Cross data set, show a higer rate of paying passengers - 97%). Therefore, a 15% discount was applied to the final results for all routes. Prices are in 2014 euros (prices before 2014 have been corrected for inflation).
