The Protection Cluster was established in Colombia in 2006 with the objective of promoting a humanitarian response based on the protection of human rights. Its primary role is to facilitate and ensure that the protection of individuals affected by human rights violations or at risk of such violations due to conflict and evolving dynamics of violence remains central to the humanitarian response efforts of national authorities and all actors within the humanitarian and development coordination architecture.
