The Ministry of Education announced the first phase of school reopening on 16 October 2017. Therefore, IOM prioritized schools currently housing the displaced population in the first round of DTM assessment. 43 of the pre-identified collective centers were schools and 33 of these were housing displaced individuals on 6 October. IOM aims to provide basic information on these targeted schools to inform the government and general humanitarian community of the situation in these collective centers and support provision of assistance. This report presents the results of assessments carried out from 11-14 October in 19 schools that are scheduled to reopen in the coming days.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has a complex internal displacement situation with a diverse set of drivers and impacts. In the country’s eastern provinces, armed conflict and insecurity have long been the primary drivers of the large-scale protracted displacement that the region experiences. This has been compounded, since mid-2022, by a resurgence in armed group activity in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri leading to internal unrest, regional instability, and widespread acute displacement. On top of the large-scale humanitarian crisis in the east of the country, other regions of the DRC have experienced conflict, insecurity, and disasters such as floods and landslides. A complete understanding of the displacement situation across the entire DRC is vital to inform both near-term humanitarian assistance, as well as engaging a wider array of stakeholders involved in long-term programming. The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) is IOM’s system for collecting and analysing primary data concerning population movement and has been deployed over 90 humanitarian operations globally. DTM has conducted large-scale population mobility monitoring in the country’s eastern part since 2018.

In Peru, according to official sources, between January and September of 2017, in the border crossing CEBAF Tumbes, more than 103,000 Venezuelan were registered entering, of which, more than 64% entered after June. Likewise, in the PCF of Santa Rosa, on the southern border, a total of 47,342 Venezuelan exits to Chile were registered up to October of this year. The current increase in migratory flows imposes the need to carry out an exhaustive monitoring of it in order to promote an orderly migration, safe and in human conditions - hand in hand with the stakeholders-. Thus, there is a need to know a profile of the Venezuelan migrant, the characteristics and dynamics of the migratory route. The DTM Round 1 had questions related to Profile of Venezuelan migrant, Migratory status, Migratory route, Place of transit, Difficulties on the route, Situation in the transit country and others fields.

Emergency Trends Tracking (ETT) is a crisis-based tool that tracks sudden displacement triggered by specific events or emerging crises. The objective of ETT is to help prioritize humanitarian response and to enable partners to deliver rapid assistance. Based on previous drought induced displacement patterns, and the ones observed since the beginning of the drought, the humanitarian community expects that people will move from rural to urban areas in search of humanitarian services. Consequently, this ETT tool which concentrates only on drought induced displacements, focuses on the main urban centers and surrounding villages for each district. The data is collected through Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) at the location level, from Sunday to Wednesday every week. All locations assessed are monitored each week.

On the 23rd of November 2021, the Federal Government of Somalia declared a state of emergency due to drought. Early 2023, after five consecutive failed rainy seasons, most of the country is experiencing severe drought conditions. Based on previous and current drought induced displacement patterns, people will continue to move from rural to urban areas in search of humanitarian services. In order to monitor drought related displacement, DTM has deployed its Emergency Trend Tracking tool since February 2022.

In response to the Somalia’s severe drought beginning in November 2021, DTM Somalia launched an Emergency Trends Tracking (ETT) tool first in Gedo and Bay regions in 2022, and subsequently in Hiraan, Banadir and Middle Shabelle regions in 2023 to monitor drought related displacement trends and hotspots in support of operational planning. However, during the first half of 2023, conflict and flooding displacements have been significant. Therefore, DTM restructured its ETT tool to capture multi-shock displacements (drought, flood, conflict and other) from October 2023. ETT is a crisis-based tool that tracks sudden displacement triggered by specific events or emerging crises. The objective of ETT is to help prioritize humanitarian response and to enable partners to deliver rapid assistance.

IOM conducted rapid representative surveys of the general population in Ukraine to gather initial insights into internal displacement and mobility flows, and to assess local needs. While Displacement Tracking Matrix tools are being established, this general population survey will serve as a preliminary source to identify areas with high humanitarian needs and to inform the targeting of response aiming to assist the conflict-affected population. The geographical scope of the survey covers all five macro-regions (West, East, North, Center, South, and the city of Kyiv). The probabilistic sample, representative at macro-region level, was constructed through a random‐digit‐dial (RDD) approach, and 2,000 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed using the computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method. Those currently outside Ukraine were not interviewed. Population estimates assume that children travel together with their adult guardians. The estimates rely on the UNFPA population data for Ukraine, agreed upon as the common population baseline by the humanitarian community.

The increase of security incidents in northern Mozambique since 2017 resulted in population displacement as well as subsequent humanitarian needs in virtually every humanitarian sector. To better understand the scope of displacement and needs of displaced populations, and in light of the intensification of the situation, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) activated its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in the Cabo Delgado province in February 2019.

The CoRA employs a multi-sectoral location-level assessment (MSLA) methodology conducted with local authority key informants at the settlement or city-raion level. The assessment is based on 20 indicators divided into five ‘drivers’: (1) livelihoods, (2) utilities and services (3) residential destruction, (4) safety and security, and (5) public life. The indicators describe the critical or minimum conditions required for sustainable return and reintegration in Ukraine. The scores of each indicator and driver are grouped into three categories: low, medium, and high severity of living conditions. For more information on the methodology, please refer to the full report. When requesting the dataset, please specify if you would like to receive the report as well.

The dataset contains IDPs individuals and households at admin2 level. IOM has been developing a Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) since May 2015 aimed at effectively monitoring and evaluating the flows of Burundian IDPs and providing accurate information on the current IDP situation. The DTM in Burundi has been successfully used in 2014, upon the request of the humanitarian community and the GoB when some areas of Bujumbura were flooded, which caused displacement. This tool allowed registering IDPs in four IDP sites and in host families in four locations and identifying their humanitarian needs. The dataset includes returnees from abroad who are still displaced in the country. They are categorized as IDPs due to their continued displacement within the country.
