Language data drawn from the 2017 government census and the MICS, Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys by UNICEF. Includes the percentage of the population by native language and literacy rates for men and women age 10 and older.

Language data drawn from the 2001 government census. Includes the percentage of the population for whom this is their main language, English speaking rates, and literacy rates of people age 15 and older. Available at the admin 0, 1, and 2 levels.

Language data drawn from the 2010 government census. Includes primary language spoken at home, ability to speak Indonesian, and literacy rates for men and women. Available at the admin 0, 1, and 2 levels.

Language data drawn from the 2000 government census. Spoken language data was measured by asking if the primary language spoken at home was (1) Only Thai, (2) Thai and other or (3) Only other. The data on specific "other" spoken languages is available exclusively at admin level 0 since it comes from the 2000 Census Reports, where it is described in text format. This dataset also includes literacy rates for men and women age 10 and over. Available at the admin 0, 1, and 2 levels.

Includes the percentage of the population for whom this is their most common language of communication in their household, English speaking rates for people age 15 and older, and illiteracy rates for men and women age 15 and older. Available at the admin 0, 1, and 2 levels.
