Managed by the University of Hawaii, the Pacific Disaster Center (PDC) provides applied research, scientifically-based practices, and its powerful DisasterAWARE™ technology to empower disaster managers and planners with the data, information and tools they need to reduce disaster risk. DisasterAWARE provides multi-hazard monitoring, early warning, impact estimation, and anticipated needs analysis—all in one system—providing timely access to life-saving information from the most trusted sources. For more than 20 years, PDC has successfully collaborated with governments, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), and humanitarian relief organizations worldwide to help improve disaster planning, response, and recovery capacities for a safer world. Our core services include customization and institutionalization of early warning and multi-hazard monitoring systems, in-depth risk and vulnerability assessments, national disaster preparedness assessments, and training and exercises.
