The UNHCR Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) is a household-level survey covering people who are directly or indirectly assisted by UNHCR. In Myanmar, respondents included internally displaced persons, returnees, stateless and host community. The objective of the survey is to monitor impact and outcome level indicators on education, healthcare, livelihoods, protection concerns, shelter, and water and sanitation. The results contribute to an evidence base for reporting against UNHCR’s multi-year strategies to key stakeholders. The RMS can be implemented in any operational context. A standard structured questionnaire has been developed for the RMS, which can be conducted as a stand-alone survey or flexibly integrated with other data collection exercises. The questionnaire was adapted to the Myanmar context and programme objectives by including, e.g. the IDP module. Questions related to Accoutability to Affected Populations (AAP) and service provision were added. A mixed methodology of remote and in-person interview was applied to allow for inclusion of respondents in areas not accessible to data collectors, e.g. rakhine state. The data includes indicators collected at both the household and individual (household-member) level. The survey covered 4444 household amounting to 19009 individuals.

According to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Needs and Planned Response 2023, 28.3 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance and 9.7 million are in need of Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (ES/NFI) assistance. A nation-wide post-distribution monitoring (PDM) was conducted to provide an independent evaluation of the ES/NFI assistance delivered by partners. The target population included households who received one of the following four types of assistance between August and November 2022: cash for shelter repair & upgrade, cash for rent, inkind shelter repair & upgrade, and in-kind NFI support. This assessment was conducted by phone between 11-22 December and reached 735 respondent. The survey found that 95% of all beneficiary households reported being overall satisfied (38%) or very satisfied (57%) with the assistance delivered. Cash was the preferred modality for 95% of beneficiary households and 75% of beneficiary households reported that the condition of their shelter had improved largely (41%) or moderately (34%) as a result of the assistance.

Division of Emergency, Security, and Supply (DESS) set up a sustainable product development team to re-design the UNHCR relief items and their packaging to include recycled and renewable content to reduce the associated GHG emissions by 20% by 2025. UNHCR uses Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) as a mechanism to collect refugees' feedback on the quality, sufficiency, utilization and effectiveness of the assistance items they receive. The underlying principle behind the process is linked to accountability, as well as a commitment to improve the quality and relevance of support provided, and related services. To assess the re-design and collect feedback on the green core-relief items, the end-user survey or PDM was implemented in Quetta and Peshwar. 741 households were surveyed. Data was collected in April and May 2023.

The UNHCR Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) is a household-level survey covering people who are directly or indirectly assisted by UNHCR, including refugees and asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, returnees, stateless and others of concern. Additionally, in the Republic of Korea the survey covered rejected Asylum-Seekers. The questionnaire was adapted to the Korean context and programme objectives by removing, e.g. questions related to camp settings. Questions related to the rejected asylum seekers in need of protection and family members abroad were added. The data includes indicators collected at both the household and individual (household-member) level. The survey covered 424 household amounting to 950 individuals.

This study contains the data of the Joint Post Distribution Monitoring (JPDM) and Targeting Assessment undertaken by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), supported by the UNHCR/ WFP Joint Programme Excellence & Targeting Hub. The objectives of the assessment were to 1) ensure corporate continuity in monitoring refugees’ food security outcomes and basic needs, the household impacts of COVID-19, income situation and livelihoods and 2) inform programmatic decisions and the development of a joint targeting approach for WFP and UNHCR. Data collection was conducted in December 2020 in all six refugee camps in Rwanda where 92 percent of refugees live. The JPDM covers multidimensional vulnerabilities and needs including a wide array of thematic areas such as food security, coping strategies, household expenditure, protection, livelihoods, asset ownership, water, sanitation and hygiene and demographics among others.
