This bi-weekly dataset provides an overview of the latest areas of control in Yemen and includes a map, excel spreadsheet and GIS layer. All datasets are fully PCODED to Admin 2 district level, enabling interoperability with other datasets. Through understanding the latest areas of control, it is possible to enhance analysis in areas such as political-economy through adjusting tools to take into account the current geographic situation. This dataset forms part of the Yemen CrisisInsight product suite which includes the Yemen Core Dataset, Yemen: Crisis Impact Overview and Yemen Risk Overview.
The IPC Acute Food Insecurity (IPC AFI) classification provides strategically relevant information to decision makers that focuses on short-term objectives to prevent, mitigate or decrease severe food insecurity that threatens lives or livelihoods. This data has been produced by the National IPC Technical Working Groups for IPC population estimates since 2017. All national population figures are based on official country population estimates. IPC estimates are those published in country IPC reports.

The attacks in the Red Sea are disrupting commercial and humanitarian supplies. International partners have raised alarm over the economic and humanitarian impact of the escalating attacks on ships in the Red Sea which are adding strain to shipping routes already hit by conflicts and climate change. The crisis in the Red Sea, marked by Houthi-led attacks disrupting shipping routes, has added another layer of complexity.
In response to the Red Sea crisis, major players in the shipping industry have temporarily suspended Suez transits.
The diversion of cargo flow has a major impact on the access to commodities, especially for countries relying heavily on imports. That will also lead to higher costs and delays for humanitarian operations in the Horn of Africa. Continued tensions in the area may result in diverting international attention from the ongoing conflict in Sudan and the climate-related impacts on countries within Southern and Eastern Africa.
The situation is fluid and volatile, with the worst plummets in the last 7 years seen in early 2024. This has a potential for significant consequences depending on future developments.

The IDMC's Event data, sourced from the Internal Displacement Updates (IDU), offers initial assessments of internal displacements reported within the last 180 days. This dataset provides provisional information that is continually updated on a daily basis, reflecting the availability of data on new displacements arising from conflicts and disasters. The finalized, carefully curated, and validated estimates are then made accessible through the Global Internal Displacement Database (GIDD), accessible at https://www.internal-displacement.org/database/displacement-data. The IDU dataset comprises preliminary estimates aggregated from various publishers or sources.

This dataset shows the current IPC AMN period (October 2022–May 2023) analysis. The acute malnutrition situation has deteriorated further in GoY-controlled areas when compared to the same period in 2022. This is due to a combination of factors; severe food insecurity, low immunization coverage, poor access to health and WASH services and increased disease incidences.
