The White Helmets respond directly to the needs of civilians in northwest Syria. We have two humanitarian programs on Emergency and Resilience and one human rights program on Justice and Accountability.
-
Emergency Programs: the White Helmets provide critical emergency services in response to man-made and natural disasters through various services operated throughout northwest Syria including Healthcare services; Ambulance services; Firefighting, and Search and Rescue services; Protection services
-
Resilience programs: The resilience program ensures access to essential public services, encompassing activities such as rubble removal, opening roads, rehabilitation of water and sanitation networks, light infrastructure restoration, flood relief, winterisation and utility repairs. Additionally, the program integrates efforts to address groundwater and climate change by monitoring weather patterns, collecting data, and mitigating the risks associated with natural disasters. We support localisation by emphasising locally-driven solutions that prioritise local coordination and needs assessments, ensuring local accountability through community-feedback processes and advocating to donors to increase linkages and build confidence with local organisations.
