The dataset presents findings from key informant interviews conducted in Kyrgyzstan using the International Organization for Migration's (IOM) Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) system. Adapted from IOM's Global Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) methodology, MTM aims to collect and analyze data to understand the mobility, vulnerabilities, and needs of displaced and mobile populations for evidence-based migration management.

The surveys were conducted with return migrant workers using IOM’s Mobility Tracking Matrix (MTM) system in Tajikistan. The survey locations were selected based on the results of IOM’s Baseline Mobility Assessment on returning migrant workers. The datasets include findings on socio-economic profile, migration experience, employment and remittances.

From June to October 2022, storms and heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan have caused widespread flooding and landslides across the country. IOM implemented the CNI to provide partners with timely information on the displacement situation. This dataset is aggregated to the district level. In Peru, according to official sources, between January and September of 2017, in the border crossing CEBAF Tumbes, more than 103,000 Venezuelan were registered entering, of which, more than 64% entered after June. Likewise, in the PCF of Santa Rosa, on the southern border, a total of 47,342 Venezuelan exits to Chile were registered up to October of this year. The current increase in migratory flows imposes the need to carry out an exhaustive monitoring of it in order to promote an orderly migration, safe and in human conditions - hand in hand with the stakeholders-. Thus, there is a need to know a profile of the Venezuelan migrant, the characteristics and dynamics of the migratory route. The DTM Round 1 had questions related to Profile of Venezuelan migrant, Migratory status, Migratory route, Place of transit, Difficulties on the route, Situation in the transit country and others fields.

The increase of security incidents in northern Mozambique since 2017 resulted in population displacement as well as subsequent humanitarian needs in virtually every humanitarian sector. To better understand the scope of displacement and needs of displaced populations, and in light of the intensification of the situation, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) activated its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in the Cabo Delgado province in February 2019.

The dataset contains IDPs, Returnees and Refugees at sub national level with information on IDPs in camps and host communities. IOM set up and rolled out the first round of the DTM in November 2015 with the objective of providing regular, accurate and updated information on displaced populations within the Far North region of Cameroon to better support the response of the Government of Cameroon and the humanitarian community.

The assessment of drought-induced mobility dynamics, as well as the MSLA are aimed at collecting baseline information one mobility trends and most urgent sectoral needs of the target mobile population groups and host communities.

In the context of the political instability that has prevailed since the uprising in Libya (October 2011) and culminated in the collapse of a fragile central authority accompanied by fragmentation and infighting among myriads of militias, with continued fighting since the mid-2014 escalations, estimates indicate that the number of Internally Displaced Per-sons (IDPs) in Libya has exceeded 400,000 individuals, some eight percent of the total population (HNO, September 2015). While the country struggles to achieve and maintain stability, thousands of migrants are also taking journeys to and through Libya in a desperate bid to seek a better life in Europe. These migrants are exposed to risks of being trafficked and exploited while traveling through dangerous routes in deserts and territories controlled by different armed groups, as well as dying during attempts to cross the Mediterranean Sea. However, there has been no standardized mechanism in place to verify and regularly update IDP and migrant numbers. Given that most humanitarian and international organizations operate remotely from Tunis since mid-July 2014 due to the deteriorating security situation, maintaining access to reliable and updated data on the humanitarian situation in Libya has been challenging.

Tropical Cyclone Idai made landfall in central Mozambique the night of 14 March 2019. On 27 March 2019, IOM in coordination with the Government of Mozambique carried out site assessments in 32 evacuation sites in the Beira district in the Sofala province of Mozambique one of the provinces affected by the storm.

The MPM (Migrant Presence Monitoring) baseline assessment is designed to systematically assess, through a series of MPM Rounds, cadastres (Admin 3 areas) in Lebanon to quantify the presence of migrants per this administrative area to support operational assistance, coordination, and planning. The data collection is based on estimations received from Key Informants (KI) who are mostly composed of Mukhtars, local authorities of these areas, and Municipality officials. The MPM relies on KIs to provide reliable information for a specific and known area. For data collection, the administrative area of a cadastre was chosen as it is the smallest administrative unit with dedicated administrative officers, and the areas are small enough to ensure that information collected on the area are reliable. As a result of the situation and arrangements of migrant populations, repeated rounds will strengthen the data collected and resultant baseline. The MPM (Migrant Presence Monitoring) baseline assessment follows the methodology of IOM’s global Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Mobility Tracking component. Tailored to meet the specific operational context in Lebanon, the MPM baseline assessment gathers and analyzes data to disseminate critical multi-layered information on the presence and mobility of migrants as well as Lebanese nationals. This assessment aims to complement existing data collection exercises and it is implemented in coordination with key actors to maximize synergies, interoperability and avoid duplication

The datasets provide an overview of key thematic areas covered by the Ulaanbaatar city-wide rapid assessment on population, migration and needs from June to August 2022. The datasets explore eight primary themes across Ulaanbaatar, namely, population baseline figures, registration, internal arrivals and departures (migration), employment, financial situation, mobility-related challenges, and services and infrastructure. Data are collected through key informant interviews with kheseg leaders , who are well-informed about their communities, resources and local context.

Ethiopia village assessment survey (VAS) is a sub-component of mobility tracking. It collects data on returning IDPs, IDPs, returned migrants and host community members. VAS evaluates the absorption capacity of villages to receive returning IDPs with a focus on accessibility of services, livelihoods and reintegration.

On the 23rd of November 2021, the Federal Government of Somalia declared a state of emergency due to drought. Early 2023, after five consecutive failed rainy seasons, most of the country is experiencing severe drought conditions. Based on previous and current drought induced displacement patterns, people will continue to move from rural to urban areas in search of humanitarian services. In order to monitor drought related displacement, DTM has deployed its Emergency Trend Tracking tool since February 2022.

In early November 2020, conflict broke out in the north of Ethiopia and this has displaced many from their homes. From 11 December — 14 January 2021, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) deployed its Emergecny Site Assessment to capture internal displacement related to the Northern Ethiopia Crisis. This multisectoral location assessment assesses the number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and collects basic information on the multisectoral needs of IDPs at site level.

Mobility Tracking Matrix is a system based on IOM’s Global Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) methodology. It is designed to regularly and systematically capture, process and disseminate information to provide a better understanding of the movements and evolving needs of mobile populations, whether on site or en route. MTM verified Baseline Mobility Assessment data through phone calls with key informants in Kazakhstan to track mobility of migrant workers. MTM enables IOM and its partners to maximize resources, set priorities, and deliver better-targeted, evidence-based, mobilitysensitive and sustainable humanitarian assistance and development programming.
