DTM’s Displacement Tracking tool collects and reports on displaced numbers of households on a daily basis, allowing for regular reporting of new displacements in terms of numbers, geography and needs. More than 3.6 million people are displaced as per August 2018 assessment.

This dataset comes from the International Organization for Migration (IOM)'s displacement tracking matrix (DTM) publicly accessible API. This API allows the humanitarian community, academia, media, government, and non-governmental organizations to utilize the data collected by DTM. The DTM API only provides non-sensitive IDP figures, aggregated at the country, Admin 1 (states, provinces, or equivalent), and Admin 2 (smaller subnational administrative areas) levels. DTM Flow Monitoring, conducted by IOM Afghanistan, is designed to provide insights into the mobility patterns at Afghanistan’s border points with the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan. It is important to note that DTM collects information on total movements at a given border point, not the number of unique individuals entering or leaving the country. As a result, if one individual both left and re-entered Afghanistan during the reporting period, this would count as one outflow movement and one inflow movement. DTM FM is operational at four main crossing points (connected to Afghanistan’s National Highway) as well as six other crossing points with Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan.

This dataset provides an overview of the total population of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan, including those displaced both before and after the onset of conflict on 15 April 2023. The displacement crisis in Sudan has been unfolding for over two decades, with roots in the Darfur conflict beginning in 2003. Prior to the onset of conflict on 15 April 2023, Sudan already hosted an estimated 3,820,772 IDPs. The majority (80%) reportedly originated from Darfur states, and most were initially displaced between 2003 and 2010.

The dataset contains information on IDPs and returnees at the subnational level.

The datasets cover the period of 21 June - 30 December and includes the states mostly affected by displacement including Benue,Nasarawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara.

IOM conducted rapid representative surveys of the general population in Ukraine to gather initial insights into internal displacement and mobility flows, and to assess local needs. While Displacement Tracking Matrix tools are being established, this general population survey will serve as a preliminary source to identify areas with high humanitarian needs and to inform the targeting of response aiming to assist the conflict-affected population. The geographical scope of the survey covers all five macro-regions (West, East, North, Center, South, and the city of Kyiv). The probabilistic sample, representative at macro-region level, was constructed through a random‐digit‐dial (RDD) approach, and 2,000 respondents aged 18 and over were interviewed using the computer assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) method. Those currently outside Ukraine were not interviewed. Population estimates assume that children travel together with their adult guardians. The estimates rely on the UNFPA population data for Ukraine, agreed upon as the common population baseline by the humanitarian community.

A baseline assessment is a sub-component of mobility tracking. It aims to collect data on IDP, migrant or returnee population presence in a defined administrative area of the country.

The Registered IDP Area Baseline Assessment provides granular data on the number and geographic location of officially registered internally displaced people (IDPs). The data collected for the Area Baseline Assessment Round 38 reflects the officially registered internally displaced population (IDP) displaced since 24 February 2022, as of 31 October 2024, across 23 oblasts and Kyiv City, as recorded by IOM.

In response to the need for accurate information on internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) began implementing the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) project in July 2014. The project is supporting the Government of Nigeria and other humanitarian response partners to conduct IDPs assessments in a systematic way as well as to establish a profile of the IDP population. The dataset contains IDPs individuals and households at admin2 level. IOM has been developing a Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) since May 2015 aimed at effectively monitoring and evaluating the flows of Burundian IDPs and providing accurate information on the current IDP situation. The DTM in Burundi has been successfully used in 2014, upon the request of the humanitarian community and the GoB when some areas of Bujumbura were flooded, which caused displacement. This tool allowed registering IDPs in four IDP sites and in host families in four locations and identifying their humanitarian needs. The dataset includes returnees from abroad who are still displaced in the country. They are categorized as IDPs due to their continued displacement within the country.

The dataset contains numbers of internally displaced individuals and returnees at admin 2 level (Territories) in North Kivu province. Since November 2021, attacks by the former rebel group M 23 have resumed and increased against the congolese armed forces (FARDC) in the east of the DRC. These clashes have further intensified since March 2022, due to which the M23 seized in June 2022 the town of Bunagana located on the border with Uganda, as well as other neighboring localities in the regions of Jomba, Bweza, Kisigari and Busanza in Rutshuru territory. At the end of October 2022, the M23 extended their hold after several offensives, expanding their control over the entire Bwisha chiefdom including the territorial capital and the town of Kiwanja, with alleged plans to extend over the entire territory

Since October 8 there has been an increase in cross-border incidents between Israel and Lebanon, resulting in the displacement of people both within the South and elsewhere within the country. Since October 10, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has been conducting the daily monitoring of population movements. The objective of the exercise is to inform preparedness and response planning.

In April 2024, the Humanitarian Country Team (HCT) agreed on conducting a MSNA in Mozambique covering 9 provinces and 3 population groups (IDPs, returnees and host population), to provide valuable information on critical needs’ magnitude and severity, aiming to highlight gaps and priority areas of intervention for the humanitarian response in 2025. Multi-Sectoral Needs Assessment (MSNA) is a tool used by the humanitarian community to determine the nature and scale of a crisis and the needs of a given population in specific geographic locations through the collection of primary data. A MSNA supports evidence- based planning and decision-making during the Humanitarian Planning Cycle (HPC) and other strategic humanitarian processes.

This Data is about IDP, returnees from CAR (previous IDP) and returnees from other countries repartition by origin and period of displacement and between 2013 and the date of assessment. Evaluation has been run in 6 prefectures (admin1), 16 sub-prefectures (admin2) and 367 localities.
