  • This map illustrates satellite-detected potentially affected settlements over Tanjung and Pemenang Districts, in Lombok Utara Regency, as of 7 August 2018, after the 6.9 earthquake, that stroke Lombok Island on 5 August 2018. The analysis was conducted using post-event Pleiades satellite imagery acquired on 7 and 8 August 2018. UNITAR-UNOSAT analysis shows an estimation of the settlement size (Hamlet, Little village and Major village) associated to a damage level (Moderately damaged, severely damaged and Destroyed). Within the map extent 49 settlements were categorized as destroyed, 57 as severely damaged and 129 as moderately damaged. Within the analysed area, Tanjung is the most affected district and Sigar Penjalin and Sokong are its most affected desa. In Pemenang district the most affected desa is Pemenang Barat.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected potential informal gathering sites over Tanjung and Pemenang Districts in Lombok Island, Indonesia as of 8 August 2018, subsequent to the 6.9 magnitude earthquake, that struck Lombok Island on 5 August 2018. The analysis was conducted using a post-event Pleiades satellite image acquired on 7 and 8 of August 2018. UNITAR-UNOSAT analysis identified about 170 informal gathering sites in the analysed area of Lombok Island and 6 potential gathering sites in Gili Trawangan Island. The size of these temporary gathering sites ranges from isolated tents to clusters of tents. This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected potentially damaged buildings and gathering sites over Gili Islands as of 8 August 2018, after the 6.9 earthquake, that stroke Lombok Island on 5 August 2018. The analysis was conducted using a post-event Pleiades satellite image acquired on 8 August 2018. UNITAR-UNOSAT analysis identified minor damage over Gili Islands, 15 potentially damaged buildings, mainly observed in Gili Air and 6 potentially gatherings sites in Gili Trawangan island. Kindly note that Google Earth was used as Pre-event imagery, it might have decreased the confidence level of the analysis. This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected building damage assessment as of 7 August 2018, over Gumantar and Dangiang Desa, Kagayan District, Lombok Island, after the 6.9 earthquake, 3km SSE of Loloan, Indonesia. The analysis was conducted using a post-event Pleiades satellite image acquired as of 7 August 2018, two days after the earthquake hit the island. UNITAR-UNOSAT analysis identified 1,274 potentially damaged structures within the area. Overall, the satellite detected damage level was severe, in this part of the island, especially in Boyotan Asli and Dangian Timur villages.   • An Interferogram of the devastating earthquake in Indonesia last July 29, 2018 with a magnitude of 6.4. Data were processed using 2 Sentinel 1 data using repeat pass interferometry. One cycle (cold to hot color) means half of the radar wavelength which is approximately 3.5 - 7.5 cm wavelength. The data shows vertical ground displacement with respect to the satellites line of sight (LOS).

  • This map illustrates satellite-detected, potentially damaged structures in the town of Atzala, Atzala Municipality, Puebla State, Mexico. The analysed area is located approximately 7 km west of the mainshock epicentre of the 19 September M 7.1 earthquake. UNITAR-UNOSAT identified 91 potentially damaged structures of which 78 are within the town extent. Taking in account the total 559 pre-event structures in Atzala town, 14% of the structures are likely to be damaged. These analyses was performed using a post-event Pleiades satellite image acquired on 22 September 2017 and a pre-event WorldView-2 satellite image acquired on 11 April 2017.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected, potentially damaged structures in the central western part of the city of Cuernavaca and more specifically in the neighborhoods of Downtown, La Mina 2 and Altavista, Cuernavaca Municipality, Morelos State, Mexico. UNITAR-UNOSAT detected a general moderate damage with a few collapsed structures and identified 1,494 potentially affected structures. The analysis was performed using a post-event WorldView-3 satellite image acquired on 22 September 2017 and a pre-event WorldView-2 satellite image acquired on 13 February 2017.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected, potentially damaged structures in the Historical Center of Puebla located in Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza Municipality, Puebla State, Mexico. The analyzed area is located approximately 90 km north of the epicentral zone of the 19 September 2017 M7.1 earthquake. the Institute of Geography of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (IGG-UNAM) identified 336 potentially damaged structures from which 256 are within Historical Center. The analysis was performed using a post-event WorldView-3 satellite image acquired on 23 September 2017 and a pre-event WorldView-2 satellite image acquired on 28 July 2017.     This map illustrates satellite-detected, potentially damaged structures in some affected colonies located in Venustiano Carranza, Cuauhtemoc, Benito Juarez, Coyoacan and Iztapalapa Municipalities, Federal District, Mexico. The analysis was performed by Faculty of Geography of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMex) using as post-event satellite imagery : WorldView-2 acquired as of 20 and 26 September 2017 and Pleiades acquired as of 22 September 2017. UAEMex identified 201 potentially damaged structures within the limit of the analyzed colonies, surrounded by a blue line in this map: 24 are located in Magdelena Mixhuca colony, 22 in Aculco, 21 in Atenor Sala and 20 in El Arenal.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected, potentially damaged structures in some affected colonies located in Xochimilco and Tlahuac Municipalities, Federal District, Mexico. The analysis was performed by Faculty of Geography of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMex) using as post-event WorldView-2 satellite imagery acquired 20 September 2017.   • This map illustrates satellite-detected damaged and potentially damaged buildings and the related density of damage in the areas north of Sarpol-e-Zahab county in Kermanshah province, Iran following the M 7.3 earthquake that struck the area on the 12 November 2017. The analysis was carried out comparing a post-event Pleiades image acquired on the 16 November 2017 with a pre-event WorldView3 image of 24 July 2017. The results indicate damage across several localities and villages in this zone and about 3300 structures were identified as potentially damaged (e.g. 362 in Koeeke Hasan; 148 in Tapamaran and 98 in Jaberi). This is a preliminary analysis and has not yet been validated in the field.
