The number of IDPs has increased from 377,781 people (DTM report of July 2021) to 401,736 in September 2021, an increase of 23,955 individuals. This increase is explained by the worsening of security conditions in the regions of Ségou, Mopti and Timbuktu during the last two months, resulting in more and more trips.

  • XLSX DTM Mali Baseline Assessment Round 71
    Modified: 16 September 2021

Data collection and updating operations carried out under the DTM program confirm the drop in the number of displaced people in Mali. However, between May and July 2021, various violence continued to be reported in the regions of Mopti, Ségou, Timbuktu and Gao. Indeed, this violence caused the flight of populations from their villages and hamlets to find refuge in localities of the said regions where the security situation seems calmer.
