It includes, for the first time, the City Prosperity Index with information on productivity; infrastructure development; environmental sustainability; quality of life; equity/social inclusion; and Composite Street Connectivity Index (CSCI). The CSCI is composed with three elements: proportion of land allocated to street (percent), street density (km/km2) and the intersection density (number of intersection per km2). This version of UrbanInfo is designed by UN-HABITAT in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the United Nations Development Group (UNDG), with financial support from the United Nations Development Account and other partners.

GAR 2015 Risk results are presented as a series of probabilistic risk metrics. One of them is the multi-hazard Average Annual Loss (AAL) which is the long-term expected loss per year, averaged over many years. While there may actually be little or no losses, over a short period of time, the AAL accounts much larger losses that may occur more infrequently. AAL is also an indication of the amount of savings a nation need to set aside each year to cover the cost of long term losses from that hazard. As GAR global risk assessment is performed at global scale, the AAL calculated should be read as order of magnitude for the potential recurrent extent of losses in a country.

The violent deaths indicator combines national level statistics on homicide and data on fatalities occurred in armed conflict. The database covers more than 189 countries and territories and it is kept constantly updated. Estimates on violent deaths between 2007 and 2012 are at the core of the analysis presented in the third and latest edition of the Global Burden of Armed Violence, launched in May 2015.

Data as of March 8, 2013. These boundary lines were derived from the World Vector Shoreline dataset and match up with the 2013 detailed LSIB polygons. The 1:250,000 scale World Vector Shoreline (WVS) coastline data is generally shifted by several hundred meters to over a km. To simplify the polygons, the ArcGIS Simplify Polygon tool was used, using the Bend Simplify algorithm with a maximum allowable offset of 3 miles. Topology was then corrected for any errors produced by the simplification process. For convenience, the dataset is broken out into regions: (1) Africa, (2) Asia and Russia, (3) Europe and Southwest Asia, (4) North America, (5) Oceania, and (6) South America. In the zip file, there is also a global dataset (approximately 24 MBs) that includes all the data. There are no restrictions on use of this public domain data. This dataset will be updated as needed and is current as of March 08, 2013.

Although this thesaurus was compiled by the U.S. Department of State, Humanitarian Information Unit, the codes themselves are managed by their respective organizations. The data contained herein is entirely unclassified and is current as of 20 March 2015. The data is updated as needed.
