Its effects—higher temperatures, changes in precipitation patterns, rising sea levels, and more frequent weather-related disasters—pose risks for agriculture, food, and water supplies. At stake are recent gains in the fight against poverty, hunger and disease, and the lives and livelihoods of billions of people in developing countries. Addressing climate change requires unprecedented global cooperation across borders. The World Bank Group is helping support developing countries and contributing to a global solution, while tailoring our approach to the differing needs of developing country partners. Data here cover climate systems, exposure to climate impacts, resilience, greenhouse gas emissions, and energy use. Other indicators relevant to climate change are found under other data pages, particularly Environment, Agriculture & Rural Development, Energy & Mining, Health, Infrastructure, Poverty, and Urban Development. The supply of labor available in an economy includes people who are employed, those who are unemployed but seeking work, and first-time job-seekers. Not everyone who works is included: unpaid workers, family workers, and students are often omitted, while some countries do not count members of the armed forces. Data on labor and employment are compiled by the International Labour Organization (ILO) from labor force surveys, censuses, establishment censuses and surveys, and administrative records such as employment exchange registers and unemployment insurance schemes. Indicators: Average working hours of children, Children in employment, Contributing family workers, Employers, Employment in agriculture, Employment in industry, Employment in services, Employment to population ratio, GDP per person employed, Labor force, Labor force participation rate, Labor force participation rate for ages 15-24, Labor force with advanced education, Labor force with basic education, Labor force with intermediate education, Part time employment, Ratio of female to male labor force participation rate, Self-employed, Share of youth not in education, Unemployment, Unemployment with advanced education, Unemployment with basic education, Unemployment with intermediate education, Vulnerable employment, Wage and salaried workers

The world economy needs ever-increasing amounts of energy to sustain economic growth, raise living standards, and reduce poverty. But today's trends in energy use are not sustainable. As the world's population grows and economies become more industrialized, nonrenewable energy sources will become scarcer and more costly. Data here on energy production, use, dependency, and efficiency are compiled by the World Bank from the International Energy Agency and the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center. Indicators: Access to electricity, Adjusted savings, Alternative and nuclear energy, CO2 emissions from gaseous fuel consumption, CO2 emissions from liquid fuel consumption, Combustible renewables and waste, Electric power consumption, Electric power transmission and distribution losses, Electricity production from coal sources, Electricity production from hydroelectric sources, Electricity production from natural gas sources, Electricity production from nuclear sources, Electricity production from oil, Electricity production from oil sources, Electricity production from renewable sources, Energy imports, Energy intensity level of primary energy, Energy related methane emissions, Energy use, Firms using banks to finance investment, Fossil fuel energy consumption, Fuel exports, Fuel imports, GDP per unit of energy use, Methane emissions in energy sector, Mineral rents, Natural gas rents, Nitrous oxide emissions in energy sector, Oil rents, Ores and metals exports, Ores and metals imports, Pump price for diesel fuel, Pump price for gasoline, Renewable electricity output, Renewable energy consumption, Time required to get electricity, Time to obtain an electrical connection, Total natural resources rents, Value lost due to electrical outages

For the 70 percent of the world's poor who live in rural areas, agriculture is the main source of income and employment. But depletion and degradation of land and water pose serious challenges to producing enough food and other agricultural products to sustain livelihoods here and meet the needs of urban populations. Data presented here include measures of agricultural inputs, outputs, and productivity compiled by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization. Internally displaced persons are defined according to the 1998 Guiding Principles (http://www.internal-displacement.org/publications/1998/ocha-guiding-principles-on-internal-displacement) as people or groups of people who have been forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of armed conflict, or to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights, or natural or human-made disasters and who have not crossed an international border. "People Displaced" refers to the number of people living in displacement as of the end of each year. "New Displacement" refers to the number of new cases or incidents of displacement recorded, rather than the number of people displaced. This is done because people may have been displaced more than once. Contains data from IDMC's Global Internal Displacement Database.

The Future of Business survey is a collaboration between Facebook, the OECD and the World Bank to provide timely insights on the perceptions, challenges, and outlook of online Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The Future of Business survey was first launched as a monthly survey in 17 countries in February 2016 and expanded to 42 countries in 2018. In 2019, the Future of Business survey increased coverage to 97 countries and moved to a bi-annual cadence. The target population consists of SMEs that have an active Facebook business Page and include both newer and longer-standing businesses, spanning across a variety of sectors. To date, more than 90 million SMEs have created a Facebook Page, and more than 700,000 of these Facebook Page owners have taken the survey. With more businesses leveraging online tools each day, the survey provides a lens into a new mobilized, digital economy and, in particular, insights on the actors: a relatively unmeasured community worthy of deeper consideration and considerable policy interest. The survey includes questions about perceptions of current and future economic activity, challenges, business characteristics and strategy. Custom modules include questions related to regulation, access to finance, digital payments, and digital skills. The full questionnaire is available for download. This dataset contains survey response data aggregated by country and wave. Future of Business Survey website: futureofbusinesssurvey.org
