What is Data Grid Completeness?
Data Grid Completeness defines a set of core data that are essential for preparedness and emergency response. For select countries, the HDX Team and trusted partners evaluate datasets available on HDX and add those meeting the definition of a core data category to the Data Grid Completeness board above. Please help us improve this feature by sending your feedback to hdx@un.org.

These data sets are intended to inform researchers and public health experts about how populations are responding to physical distancing measures. In particular, there are two metrics, Change in Movement and Stay Put, that provide a slightly different perspective on movement trends. Change in Movement looks at how much people are moving around and compares it with a baseline period that predates most social distancing measures, while Stay Put looks at the fraction of the population that appear to stay within a small area during an entire day. Full details, including the privacy protections in this data, are available here: https://research.fb.com/blog/2020/06/protecting-privacy-in-facebook-mobility-data-during-the-covid-19-response/

We use an anonymized snapshot of all active Facebook users and their friendship networks to measure the intensity of connectedness between locations. The Social Connectedness Index (SCI) is a measure of the social connectedness between different geographies. Specifically, it measures the relative probability that two individuals across two locations are friends with each other on Facebook. Details on the underlying data and the construction of the index are provided in the “Facebook Social Connectedness Index - Data Notes.pdf” file. Please also see https://dataforgood.fb.com/ as well as the associated research paper “Social Connectedness: Measurement, Determinants and Effects,” published in the Journal of Economic Perspectives (https://www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=10.1257/jep.32.3.259).

The UNHCR Livelihoods Monitoring Framework takes a program-based approach to monitoring, with the aim of tracking both outputs and the impact of UNHCR dollars spent on programming (either via partners or through direct implementation). The process for developing the indicators began in 2015 with a review of existing tools and approaches. Consultations were held with governments, the private sector, field-based staff and civil society partners to devise a set of common, standardized measures rooted in global good practices. Since 2017, a data collection (survey) has been rolled out globally, and the participating operations conducted a household surveys to a sample of beneficiaries of each livelihoods project implemented by UNHCR and its partner. The dataset consists of baseline and endline data from the same sample beneficiaries, in order to compare before and after the project implementation and thus to measure the impact. This dataset contains COVID-19 vaccine dose availability forecasts as well as actual deliveries for countries with Humanitarian Response Plans. The data on vaccine availability forecasts was manually extracted from the COVAX Facility Interim Distribution Forecast as announced by COVAX on 3 February 2021. In 2021, 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection. This number has risen to 1 in 33 people worldwide - a significant increase from 1 in 45 at the launch of the Global Humanitarian Overview (GHO) 2020, which was already the highest figure in decades. The UN and partner organisations aim to assist 160 million people most in need across 56 countries and will require a total of $35 billion to do so. The GHO 2021 looks more holistically at the effects of COVID-19. Amid ongoing violent conflict, rising hunger and the effects of climate change, the pandemic will continue to have an impact in 2021. As the health and non-health effects of COVID-19 merge with other shocks, humanitarian programming is also adjusting to treat it in a more integrated manner.

The AWSD is a global compilation of reports on major security incidents involving deliberate acts of violence affecting aid workers. Incident data is collected both from public sources, through systematic media filtering using a data scraper tool developed for Humanitarian Outcomes, and from information provided directly to the project by aid organisations and operational security entities. The project also maintains agreements with a number of regional and field-level security consortiums for direct information sharing and verification of incidents. Incident reports are crosschecked and verified with the relevant agencies on an annual basis via our verification project. The latest, unverified incidents are provided on the online database with the qualification that the numbers are provisional and may change. For more: https://aidworkersecurity.org/about

This dataset is UCDP's most disaggregated dataset, covering individual events of organized violence (phenomena of lethal violence occurring at a given time and place). These events are sufficiently fine-grained to be geo-coded down to the level of individual villages, with temporal durations disaggregated to single, individual days.
