The aim of the Sub-Area Assessment is to track and monitor IDP and returnee populations in Yemen. Information is collected on population size, area of origin, current location, duration of displacement, shelter types, priority needs and movement trends. Among the main outputs of the Sub-Area Assessment, is a list of locations where IDPs and/or returnees are present that can be used to inform more detailed assessments at the location level, including the annual Multi-Cluster Location Assessment (MCLA). DTM field staff, along with KIs, use the Sub-Area Assessment tool to capture locations, which are matched to the identified locations in the OCHA Common Operational Dataset (P-Codes).

ACLED makes its dataset of disaggregated conflict and protest data publicly available. A new version of the dataset is released annually, with data from the previous year and targeted quality review being added in each new version. Files for all countries are composed of ACLED events which indicate the day, actors, type of activity, location, fatalities, sources and notes for individual politically violent events. Please see the codebook for further details on conflict categories, actors, events and sources. The user guide provides guidance on downloading and reading files. ACLED data are presented in three forms: the first is an Excel for the entire African continent; the second is a corresponding shapefile of the African continent created from those data; the third format is an Excel file called “COUNTRY X” containing data disaggregated by country which occur in the named state’s territory (including foreign groups active in a state’s territory).

The market monitoring system was developed by the Cash-Based Responses Technical Working Group and REACH Turkey, after the CBR – TWG identified that monitoring markets on a regular basis in Syria was key to understand how markets function and cope with the challenges brought by the conflict, as well as with rough climate conditions. The market monitoring system also aims at informing program design to utilise existing markets, notably through cash-based responses and food assistance, to promote beneficiary empowerment and cost efficiency. Field staff will monitor prices and stock levels of basic commodities in markets in northern Syria on a monthly basis to inform and guide cash and voucher programs, as well as food assistance, for populations relying on the assessed markets. Credit The Market Assessment was carried out by partner organizations of the CBR - TWG and REACH, following an initiative launched by the Cash-Based Responses - Technical Working Group. This project is being funded by OFDA.

The Small Arms Survey tracks statistics on violent deaths and compiles them in its database on violent deaths. Within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), states have pledged to ‘[p]romote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels’. The first target identified under this goal, Target 16.1, commits all states to ‘[s]ignificantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere'. The database provides a tool for assessing progress in implementing Target 16.1. The database contains data from 2004 and includes direct conflict deaths and homicide data sets as well data on 'unintentional homicides' and 'legal interventions deaths'. The database served as the backbone of the Global Burden of Armed Violence reports. Data will be updated and shared once a year.
