Methodology

The Small Arms Survey's Global Violent Deaths database (GVD) draws on a wide range of sources on violent deaths. It combines data on intentional homicide from criminal justice systems and public health with data on conflict-related deaths collected by international and local actors. The database covers 223 countries and territories for the period 2004-2018. When available, data is disaggregated by sex of victims and by instrument (firearm).
