This dataset comes from the International Organization for Migration (IOM)'s displacement tracking matrix (DTM) publicly accessible API. This API allows the humanitarian community, academia, media, government, and non-governmental organizations to utilize the data collected by DTM. The DTM API only provides non-sensitive IDP figures, aggregated at the country, Admin 1 (states, provinces, or equivalent), and Admin 2 (smaller subnational administrative areas) levels. For more detailed information, please see the country-specific DTM datasets on HDX.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: IDMC - Internal Displacement Updates
Conflict and disaster population movement (flows) data for Iraq. The data is the most recent available and covers a 180 day time period. Internally displaced persons are defined according to the 1998 Guiding Principles as people or groups of people who have been forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of armed conflict, or to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights, or natural or human-made disasters and who have not crossed an international border. The IDMC's Event data, sourced from the Internal Displacement Updates (IDU), offers initial assessments of internal displacements reported within the last 180 days. This dataset provides provisional information that is continually updated on a daily basis, reflecting the availability of data on new displacements arising from conflicts and disasters. The finalized, carefully curated, and validated estimates are then made accessible through the Global Internal Displacement Database (GIDD). The IDU dataset comprises preliminary estimates aggregated from various publishers or sources.

"Internally displaced persons - IDPs" refers to the number of people living in displacement as of the end of each year. "Internal displacements (New Displacements)" refers to the number of new cases or incidents of displacement recorded, rather than the number of people displaced. This is done because people may have been displaced more than once. Contains data from IDMC's Global Internal Displacement Database.

In close coordination with the Assessment Information Management Working Group (AIM WG), UN OCHA, and the Inter-Cluster Coordination Group (ICCG), the tenth round of the Multi-Cluster Needs Assessment (MCNA) seeks to understand multi-sectoral household conditions and priority needs of conflict-affected populations living in Iraq. Between June 3rd and August 18th 2022, REACH Iraq and partners collected multi-sectoral household data on vulnerabilities across Iraq, reaching 13,000 households and 70,000 individuals, focusing on Returnee households, IDP households living in and out-of-camp, and host community households. This data has been analyzed, and the 2022 Multi-Cluster Needs Assessment (MCNA X) Preliminary Analysis and Summary Tables (with Arabic translation) is available for download. REACH Iraq is grateful for its partners for committing resources to ensure the completion of the 2022 MCNA in Iraq: Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Arbeiter-Samariter Bund (ASB), Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI), CARE, Youth Save Organization, People in Need (PIN), INTERSOS. For any additional questions or information queries concerning MCNA X, please contact Ted Jaspers (theodore.jaspers@reach-initiative.org).
