This dataset is part of the data series [?]: Data for Children Collaborative - Travel Time to Nearest Health Centre
A 100 m spatial resolution geotiff of motorised travel time in seconds to nearest health facility in Malawi. The data was generated using the Child Poverty and Access to Services (CPAS) software (10.5281/zenodo.4638563) and was created as part of the CPAS project within the Data for Children Collaborative. The travel time is calculated assuming driving speeds of local public transport options on all-weather roads/asphalt roads and walking speeds on all other roads, tracks, paths and land cover types. A full description is available here a video description of the data is also available here Projection system is: GCS_WGS_1984 EPSG 4326 for all

The main purpose of the Malawi Health Facility Registry is to provide an easily accessible national online database containing a comprehensive list of health facilities in the country for purposes of facilitating planning for service delivery and performance accountability. The Ministry of Health and Population maintains a comprehensive list of all health facilities in Malawi with a purpose of strengthening health service delivery. The list was previously maintained through a spreadsheet file which made it difficult to update and to access especially by the decision makers. Additionally, various sections of the Ministry have been maintaining parallel health facility lists making it harder to share and triangulate data across systems. To address these challenges, the Ministry has implemented an online Master Health Facility Registry (MHFR). The MHFR is a web service with a user interface to allow health workers get access to the full list of facilities and view summaries through the dashboard in addition to performing custom queries depending of specific information Please consult the official website to get the most updated database

This master list of health facilities was developed from a variety of government and non-government sources from 50 countries in sub-Saharan Africa. It uses multiple geocoding methods to provide a comprehensive spatial inventory of 98 745 public health facilities. Each data record represents a health facility and has 8 descriptive variables – Location identifiers including: country, first level administrative division, latitude, longitude and LL source (source of the coordinates). Coordinates are rounded off to four decimal places for uniformity, allowing an accuracy of 5–10 metres in decimal degrees coordinate format. This geocoded master facility list has been made publicly and freely available through both the figshare repository and through the World Health Organization’s Global Malaria Programme in Microsoft Excel format.
