This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - Multi-Sector Needs Assessment
The 2024 Socio-Economic Insights Survey (SEIS) in Slovakia provides a comprehensive assessment of the needs and vulnerabilities of refugees from Ukraine. Conducted as part of an annual interagency regional process led by UNHCR, this assessment supports the Regional Refugee Response Plan (RRP) for the Ukraine Situation. Covering topics such as protection, health, education, shelter, livelihoods, and food security, the survey offers critical data to inform evidence-based planning and prioritization, ensuring the specific needs of different refugee groups are addressed. Data collection was conducted through face-to-face interviews from May to July 2024 with a probability-based random sample of refugee households, managed collaboratively by UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration. Findings will guide strategic interventions and resource allocation to enhance the welfare and resilience of the refugee population in Slovakia.

The 2024 Regional Socio-Economic Insights Survey (SEIS) provides critical data to inform the 2025 Regional Refugee Response Plan (RRP), supporting strategic planning and funding allocation to address regional needs. This consolidated dataset includes comprehensive information from Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, covering essential topics such as demographics, protection, education, socio-economic inclusion and livelihoods, health, and accommodation. By synthesizing data from these ten countries, the SEIS offers a detailed view of key areas impacting refugee and host communities, supporting evidence-based decisions for targeted interventions and resource mobilization across the region.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - Multi-Sector Needs Assessment
The 2023 Multi-Sector Needs Assessment (MSNA) in Slovakia presents findings from a regional interagency multi-sectoral assessment conducted with Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia from July to August 2023. The assessment, carried out by SHC and IOM, aimed to capture the needs of and access to basic services for refugees, identify service gaps, and understand refugees' priorities for the coming year to inform response planning. Using a structured questionnaire, the assessment surveyed purposively selected households of refugees from Ukraine, stratified by geographic area and accommodation type. Key topics included health, protection, food security, education, livelihoods, gender-based violence, mental health, cash assistance, and legal needs. As a key source of information for response planning, the 2023 MSNA provides insights into the experiences and priority needs of Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - Multi-Sector Needs Assessment
With the goal of supporting the Inter-Agency Regional Response Plan (RRP) and to enable planning among key humanitarian actors through the provision of updated information on multi-sectoral needs and priorities of refugees from Ukraine, the Regional Refugee Coordination Forum (RCF) agreed on a regional approach to the implementation of inter-agency multi-sectoral needs assessments (MSNA) in 2023. The assessments were conducted around summer of 2023, using a similar methodological approach and a harmonized questionnaire aiming at having comparable results to better inform and prioritize the humanitarian response. This comprehensive regional dataset was compiled by consolidating MSNA datasets from seven countries: Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia, Moldova, Romania, and Bulgaria.

Starting in February 2022, an increasing number of refugees and third-country nationals (TCNs) entering Slovakia was registered as a result of the war in Ukraine. As of 25 May 2022, Slovak authorities reported over 450,000 arrivals from Ukraine out of whom close to 420,000 were Ukrainian refugees and close to 14,000 TCNs. Data collected by REACH between March and June 2022 also indicated that 38% of respondents crossing the border into Slovakia considered it as their final destination and that 65% of those intended to stay in the country as long as the conflict in Ukraine continued. To respond to their needs, collective centers (CCs) were to host the refugees. While these centers play a key role in the humanitarian response, the overwhelming majority of refugees reside in the host community; however, little to no information is currently available (May 2022) to response actors regarding their demographic profile, household composition, geographical presence, vulnerabilities, humanitarian needs, movement intentions, or coping capacities. In this context, REACH with the support of UNHCR undertook a multi-sector needs assessment (MSNA) light with the global objective of supporting an evidence-based humanitarian response in Slovakia through the provision of multi-sectoral data about the needs and coping capacities of Ukrainian refugee households in the country. Data collection took place between 18 July and 12 August2022. This dataset is the anonymous version of the original dataset. Note that the variable nationality was removed from the dataset to protect data subjects, however all but one respondent was of Ukrainian nationality.
