HungerMapLIVE is the World Food Programme (WFP)’s global hunger monitoring system. It combines key metrics from various data sources – such as food security information, weather, population size, conflict, hazards, nutrition information and macro-economic data – to help assess, monitor and predict the magnitude and severity of hunger in near real-time. The resulting analysis is displayed on an interactive map that helps WFP staff, key decision makers and the broader humanitarian community to make more informed and timely decisions relating to food security. The platform covers 94 countries, including countries where WFP has operations as well as most lower and lower-middle income countries (as classified by the World Bank).

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). Data are collected through Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) and in-person surveys where the circumstances allow for field access. As the system is developed, the information collected and analyzed is being used to guide strategic decisions, to design programmes and to inform analytical processes such as the Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) and the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO). At the core of the system is a standardized household questionnaire administered to around 150,000 households per year across the 26 countries. Standardization permits comparisons across time and space, considerably enhancing the utility of the data for decision makers. At minimum the household data are representative at Admin 1 level (e.g. province, or region) and in frequent cases at Admin 2 level (e.g. district). Core funding for this initiative comes from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The initiative also benefits from support from the European Union and FAO’s Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation (SFERA). In each aggregated field, the values indicate the frequencies of the different responses, expressed as a weighted percentage of the total sample. The present datasets represents aggregated data referring to household interviews performed after December 2022. At every new survey data release, after cleaning and validation phases, aggregated data is appended to the present dataset. UNHCR-WFP joint assessment mission (JAM) of Nigerian refugees in the Far North of Cameroon carried out between October 7 and 19, 2021. The objective of the assessment was to collect updated information on basic needs, shelter, food security, nutrition, water and sanitation, education, protection, security, common services, and livelihoods of Nigerian refugees to inform improved humanitarian assistance. This dataset contains data collected from samples of 607 out of approximately 10,000 households hosting 60,000 refugees in the Minawao settlement and 435 from close to 11,000 households hosting 57,000 refugees in host villages in surrounding border areas. The majority of the Nigerian Refugees in this Region fled violence and attacks perpetrated by Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs) such as Boko-Haram in the Neighboring Nigeria since 2014. The report published in September 2022 reveals interesting findings such as the difference in dependency ratios between the refugees in camps and those living in the host population. Additionally, comparative analysis on indicators such as the Food Consumption Score (FCS) and the reduced Coping Strategy Index (rCSI) between the two (02) groups are conducted and yield some interesting findings.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - Energy Monitoring Framework Survey
The UNHCR Energy Monitoring Framework takes a program-based approach to monitoring, with the aim of tracking both outputs and the impact of UNHCR dollars spent on programming (either via partners or through direct implementation). The process for developing the indicators began in 2015 with a review of existing tools and approaches and consultations with Government, Private Sector, field-based staff and NGO partners to devise a set of common, standardized measures rooted in global good practices. This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - SENS Survey
The UNHCR Standardized Expanded Nutrition Surveys (SENS) provide regular nutrition data that plays a key role in delivering effective and timely interventions to ensure good nutritional outcomes in the refugee populations. UNHCR in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and with technical support from UNICEF, WFP and WHO organized and conducted a SENS in Minawao, Mayo Tsanaga department in the Extreme North of Cameroon in July-August 2016. At the time of the survey, the camp was host to 57,367 refugees (15,389 households) from Nigeria. This was the first of its type since the camp opened in 2013. The survey includes five modules: children under five, food security, mosquito net, water and sanitation (WASH), children under five and women. See further details in the report.

UNHCR in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and with technical support from UNICEF, WFP and WHO organized and conducted a SENS of refugees from Central African Republic in the Est, Adamaoua and Nord regions of Cameroon in August and September 2016. More than 70% of refugees from Central African Republic were living outside of camps, an estimated 185,550 people at the time of the survey. The survey includes five modules: children under five, food security, mosquito net, water and sanitation (WASH) and women, children under five and women. See further details in the report.
