The UNHCR Results Monitoring Survey (RMS) is a household-level survey covering people who are directly or indirectly assisted by UNHCR. In the Philippines, respondents included forcibly displaced people, stateless people and those at risk of statelessness. The objective of the survey is to monitor impact and outcome level indicators on education, healthcare, livelihoods, protection concerns, shelter, and water and sanitation. The results contribute to an evidence base for reporting against UNHCR’s multi-year strategies to key stakeholders. The RMS can be implemented in any operational context. A standard structured questionnaire has been developed for the RMS, which can be conducted as a stand-alone survey or flexibly integrated with other data collection exercises. The questionnaire was adapted to the Philippines context and programme objectives by including, e.g. addtional questions on access to protection services, information and community leadership structures. A mixed methodology of remote and in-person interview was applied to allow for inclusion of respondents in areas not accessible to data collectors, e.g. Visayas and Mindanao. The data includes indicators collected at both the households and individual (household-member) level. The survey covered 640 household amounting to 2291 individuals.

This dataset is a product of the “Spatial Profiling” initiative, a part of the Community-based Protection and Solutions Programme Response (Co-PROSPER). The project aimed to create an enabling protection environment in Kandahar and Herat cities through spatial profiling, which involved mapping city resources and services, UNHCR’s Persons we Serve (PwS) settlement areas, and analyzing the collected data for evidence-based humanitarian response planning. Funded by UNHCR, UN-HABITAT conducted spatial profiling of targeted locations in these cities, including Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) and returnees’ camps/settlements. The project also developed new strategic responses through settlement plans for these locations, recommending strategies like provision of basic services such as water, sanitation, access roads, drainage and flood mitigation measures, and shelter. The spatial profiling focused on mapping city resources and services, settlement areas including Land Allocation Scheme (LAS) sites, spontaneous settlements of returnees and IDPs, and private housing schemes. The data collected through the profiling was analyzed for evidence-based programming. This dataset is intended to facilitate the development of new settlement plans for selected settlements in cities, aiming to upgrade the settlements of IDPs in target areas and provide durable solutions for the inhabitants.

Division of Emergency, Security, and Supply (DESS) set up a sustainable product development team to re-design the UNHCR relief items and their packaging to include recycled and renewable content to reduce the associated GHG emissions by 20% by 2025. UNHCR uses Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) as a mechanism to collect refugees' feedback on the quality, sufficiency, utilization and effectiveness of the assistance items they receive. The underlying principle behind the process is linked to accountability, as well as a commitment to improve the quality and relevance of support provided, and related services. To assess the re-design and collect feedback on the green core-relief items, the end-user survey or PDM was implemented in Quetta and Peshwar. 741 households were surveyed. Data was collected in April and May 2023.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - Post Distribution Monitoring of Non-Food Items
Pakistan is host to one of the most protracted refugee situations in the world with some 1.3 million registered Afghan refugees in the country. Under current policies, refugees and Afghans are included in the national health system at the same conditions and costs as Pakistani nationals. There is a lack of disaggregated health data on refugees, leading to difficulties in monitoring refugee health status, access, and utilization of health services. To get a better picture and inform internal programming, UNHCR commissioned a health and utilization survey (HAUS), to measure health outcomes and access to health services for refugees in Pakistan. In addition, the survey assessed levels of knowledge of available healthcare services, identified barriers to access to healthcare and evaluated the impact of the discontinuation of the parallel health system on refugee communities. The survey was undertaken prior to the 2022 floods and therefore does not reflect the impact thereof.

This dataset is part of the data series [?]: UNHCR - WASH KAP Survey
A Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) survey was conducted in Ajuong Thok and Pamir Refugee Camps in November 2017 to determine the current Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) conditions as well as hygiene attitude and practices within the households (HHs) surveyed. The assessment utilized a systematic random sampling method, and a total of 559 HHs (379 in Ajuong Thok and 180 in Pamir) were surveyed using mobile data collection (MDC) within a period of ten (10) days. Data was cleaned and analysed in Excel. The findings showed that the overall average number of liters of water per person per day was 19.5 liters in both Ajuong Thok and Pamir Camps, which was slightly lower than the recommended Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) minimum standard of at least 20 liters of water available per person per day. The average HH size was six people. Refugees were aware of the key health and hygiene practices, possibly as a result of routine health and hygiene messages delivered to them by Samaritan´s Purse (SP) and other health partners. It is recommended that proper water use measures be put in place to reduce water waste and that sanitation and hygiene messaging continue to be provided to improve sanitation and hygiene, with access to, and use of, latrines by refugees.

This report presents the findings of the profiling activities conducted from June to August 2018 in communities hosting internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the Marawi conflict and return communities in the provinces of Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Oriental and Bukidnon. Data was collected through structured interviews with IDP households using the kobo™ tool. Primary respondents were heads of households and in their absence, any person of legal age in the family. A total of 34,785 heads of households were interviewed in the profiling activity, representing 97,126 IDPs in 56 municipalities and 3 cities. This report presents data on demographic makeup of the IDPs such as age, sex, number of households, and family size, as well as protection information relating to displacement location, place of origin, resettlement, integration; various vulnerabilities of persons with special needs; educational attainment; income livelihood and skills; access to assistance; access to information; civil documentation; property ownership; intent to return; access to information, assistance received, and sources of assistance. Special focus is given on children and women in separate sections of this report. A significant number of IDPs continue to experience gaps in assistance related to health, education, shelter and long-term livelihood support. Also, IDPs continue to experience protection risks due to lack of civil documentation due to loss or destruction of birth certificates. A more nuanced and targeted approach that will address specific protection needs of IDPs is needed.
