Energy projects are being implemented in humanitarian contexts across the globe. These excel spreadsheets include all known past and present energy projects that have taken place in refugee camps, IDP communities, and other crisis-affected populations throughout the world, and were collected by the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves on behalf of the Safe Access to Fuel & Energy (SAFE) Humanitarian Working Group. This project listing was created as part of an effort to enhance coordination of activities, encourage collaboration, and share knowledge between organizations working on Safe Access to Fuel and Energy (SAFE) in humanitarian settings. Projects included in this database are those that improve access to fuel or energy for cooking, lighting, heating, or powering among crisis-affected populations. By crisis-affected populations we mean refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), or those affected by natural disaster or prolonged conflict. Examples of applicable energy interventions include providing solar lighting, manufacturing and/or distributing cookstoves and fuels, setting up mini grids for camp electrification, establishing and managing woodlots for fuel provision and environmental protection, improving protection mechanisms for women during firewood collection, and many others, provided they take place among crisis-affected populations. The SAFE Humanitarian Working Group is a consortium of partners including UNHCR, FAO, WFP, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, the Women's Refugee Commission, International Lifeline Fund, Mercy Corps, UNICEF, and other agencies. The HoA Refugee Database, produced by the Humanitarian Information Unit of the U.S. Department of State, is a compilation of the UN High Commission of Refugees (UNHCR) population and demographic data reports for refugee camp populations in the Horn of Africa Region. Dadaab Camp in Kenya and Dollo Ado camp of Ethiopia are the focus; there are seven sites within Dadaab: Dagahaley Camp, Hagadera Camp, Ifo Camp, Ifo 2 East Camp, Ifo 2 West Camp, and Camp Kambioos, and five sites within Dollo Ado: Bokolmanyo Camp, Melkadida Camp, Kobe Camp, Hilaweyn Camp, and Buramino Camp. The HoA Refugee Database originated in July of 2011 and the current release is through December 2011. The HoA Refugee Database includes several demographic variables of populations within the refugee camps, including: individual population, household counts, gender, age and nationality. Geographic location, in the form of latitude and longitude coordinates, are provided for each of the camps.

This dataset contains data on the amounts paid by refugees and migrants to facilitate their movement to Europe. The dataset has over 2400 records from 2000 to present, for refugees and migrants from locations mainly in African, the Middle East and Europe. The estimates on the amount paid by refugees and migrants is based on the number of "detections" reported by European Member States to FRONTEX (before 2008: data from Clandestino which is compatible with said routes) and the median of various sources mentioning the prices of a crossing on a FRONTEX-defined route. A 2011 report on Turkish refugees points out that one in 7 refugee or migrant do not pay for the journey (other accounts, like the Red Cross data set, show a higer rate of paying passengers - 97%). Therefore, a 15% discount was applied to the final results for all routes. Prices are in 2014 euros (prices before 2014 have been corrected for inflation).
